Just found the parts you've all been looking for. "Hard drive carrier w/ Flash storage flex cable 076-00040"įYI 076-00040 is the right part! Will post pictures later to prove it but if definitely has the PCIE cable! This is the part number I see on Apple's service guide for the 2014 Mini. I have also found been sent this from a store owner todayįairly pricey including shipping to the UK though Not sure why you would need the carrier/tray though. There is another part number which also says includes the flex cable -Ġ76-00040 - HDD Carrier & SSD PCIe Flex Cable. So perhaps the part number is incorrect, 076-00018 the description seems to suggest this includes the cable ,

Got the part and its just the retaining plate and screw , They are now trying to get it by by ordering the whole drive holder which also has the cable included. Īpparently Apple said they could order them then changed their mind, maybe once they realised what everyone will be doing. I contacted them the other day to find out about mine and they said they were having issues getting them. I keep meaning to ask him this too as mine hasn't showed. The frame appears to have the same or similar mounting holes for the HDD grommets and screws. One would have to take a rough measurement of where the upper bay SATA plug is based on photos of both versions.įrom the picture posted it looks like it might be close. My tech toolkit happened to have one, and they are available from other sources. Says they are working on a complete kit with the tools and hardware as well. The ifixit teardown page has a reply from someone who appears to be from ifixit and verified the SATA cable they sell from the 2012 Mini does indeed work. Yes, the bay is wide open and does not include any hardware or SATA flex cable to connect a hard drive.

In theory, you could just order the Ifixit kit and install the cable and HD, retaining the PCIe (if no immediate upgrade is offered). #Mac mini (late 2014) Teardown - SSD Upgradeĭoes anyone know, if you order a 2014MM with the PCIe installed instead of the HD, is that bay just wide open? #Upgrading New 2014/ 2015 Mac Mini to SSD (Solid State Drive)
